Curriculum Night: Open House

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We will be hosting our annual Curriculum Night on Thursday September 13th, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) and visit their classrooms.

This year’s format will be as  follows:

TLLP Parent Presentation: 7:00 – 7:15 pm (gymnasium)

Classroom Open House Visits:  7:20 -8:00 pm

TLLP Parent Presentation:

The Teacher Learning and Leadership Program (TLLP) is an annual project based program that funds proposals submitted by classroom teachers from publicly funded school boards. Last year, St. Padre Pio submitted an application to develop a STREAM school with an emphasis on ethics, morality and computational thinking.

It is with great pride that I inform you, that St. Padre Pio Catholic School, was successful in receiving the ministry funded grant for the 2018-2019 school year.

STREAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. A STREAM focus will give students form FDK – Grade 8, the opportunity to build on transferable skills such as, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and creativity, that will be crucial to their future success and lifetime skill development.

The TLLP Parent Presentation will give parents a quick overview of the project in order to facilitate parent understanding and engagement from FDK- Gr. 8.

Classroom Open House Visits:

Parents are invited to visit their children’s classroom from 7:20 – 8 pm.

Kindly note that teachers will not be conducting formal presentations.

As you know, this evening is not for interviews as your child’s teacher is just beginning to develop a relationship with him/her, as well as discover their strengths. As always, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher should you have concerns or questions throughout the year.
